Alexandra Codina, Director/Producer

Alexandra’s debut film, MONICA & DAVID (68 minutes, 2010), tells the love story of two adults with Down syndrome. The film won Tribeca Film Festival’s Jury Award, was nominated for an Emmy Award, premiered on HBO, and broadcast in 33 countries.  The film’s DVD set a precedent for accessibility, including audio description for the menu and all content in English and Spanish.  MONICA & DAVID was featured in New York Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, ABC, Harper’s Bazaar, Variety, and Latina Magazine.  A current Chicken & Egg Pictures Accelerator Lab grantee, Ali’s work has been supported by: Knight Foundation, The Fledgling Fund, The Perspective Fund, Sundance Knight Fellowship, South Florida Arts Consortium & Tribeca All Access. She's currently working on, UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN, her second feature documentary.  She co-founded the Miami Filmmakers Collective to build local community.  Of Cuban descent, Ali lives in Miami and is the mother of two young boys.

Aymée Cruzalegui

Aymée spent over fifteen years editing, producing and directing programs for MTV Networks Latin America, Nickelodeon, Yahoo! & Discovery Channel. With a deeply empathetic eye, her work draws from her own experience as a Peruvian immigrant, to explore the complexity of living between two worlds. She directed & edited POR MIS HIJOS, an award-winning short documentary about a migrant woman in Barcelona combating solitude and other barriers to improve the life of her children back home. Aymée edited educational content for MONICA & DAVID, solidifying a wonderful partnership with Ali; and came on board in the early production of UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN. Aymée is in development on a documentary about a small Peruvian fishing town whose millenary heritage is threatened by the effects of climate change. She is alumna of Chicken & Egg Pictures and South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship, and a co-founder of the Miami Filmmakers Collective.


Ani Mercedes

Ani is an Impact Producer at Looky Looky Pictures and was a Firelight Media Impact Producer Fellow. Her impact production includes UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN, COUNCILWOMAN (in production), and consulted on the short series OUR 100 DAYS by Fusion & Field of Vision. She produces and hosts a video podcast and organizes an online community that helps filmmakers build sustainable careers. She directed two short documentaries: THE HALL (PBS) and HAND BUILT BOAT (Miami International Film Festival). Ani began her film career as a Kartemquin Films intern; was a Field Organizer on President Obama’s 2008 campaign; and a White House intern.
